Abstract

892,156. Foot-arch supports. CANADIAN FOOTWEAR RESEARCH Inc. May 30, 1958 [June 3, 1957; Sept. 26, 1957], No. 17311/58. Class 17(2) The insole 10 of a shoe has elliptical holes 12, 13 cut at the base respectively of the first and fifth metatarsals. The cut out portions are then replaced and held in the holes 12, 13 by adhesive tapes, Fig. 8 (not shown) during fabrication of the shoe. After the shoe is removed from the last, the cut out portions are removed and cushioning pads 14, 15 are cemented on their underside and fixed in the holes 12, 13 to the outsole. A metatarsal arch support pad 17 and heel cushion 16 are cemented to the insole, and a sock liner Fig. 9 (not shown) preferably perforated where it covers the pads 14, 15 and 16 is then cemented on.
