Abstract

892,019. Accumulators. MERCIER, J. July 8, 1958 [July 11, 1957], No. 21877/58. Class 69 (2). An hydraulic accumulator comprises a casing 4 divided into a liquid supply chamber 8 and a gas chamber 9 by a diaphragm 7. The pressure in the gas chamber may be varied during use by the introduction or release of an incompressible fluid into the chamber. In the embodiment shown an elastic bag 15 is fitted in the chamber and liquid is fed to or from this bag under the control of a valve 18. The liquid may be supplied from a separate source or from the line 2 in communication with the liquid supply chamber 8. The liquid may be fed directly into gas chamber 9 through a tube extending to near the bottom of the diaphragm in which case the liquid preferably contains a dispersion component such as agar-agar. The easing may be arranged in the inverted position when a float valve is arranged in the gas chamber to seal the opening when the liquid is removed completely from the gas chamber.
