891,663. Reaping machines. FEATHERSTONE AGRICULTURAL Ltd. Aug. 8, 1960 [Nov. 17, 1959], No. 38943/59. Class 6(3) [Also in Group XXIII] A support for a reciprocating cutter 11 is formed from readily detachable parts arranged to pivot about three mutually perpendicular axes and comprises a pair of parallel bars 1 detachably secured to a housing 2 which has a bore 2A for a driving shaft 9, a plate 4 to which the housing is pivoted by pin 3 and a further plate 6 pivoted to a fixture plate 8 about a vertical axis 7 to allow the lead of the cutter bar to be set. The plate 4 is secured to plate 6 so that it may be moved in its plane by virtue of bolts 5A engaging arcuate slots so that the cutter may be tilted. The bolt 8B shears when the cutter meets an obstruction and allows the whole mechanism to pivot upwardly about the centre bolt 8C of the plate 8. The cable 14 can be operated to lift the cutter bar.
