891,330. Grinding. TORIT MANUFACTURING CO. Nov. 1, 1960 [Nov. 2, 1959], No. 37521/60. Class 60. The grinding wheel 30 of a dental model trimmer is motor-driven within a split housing 10 formed by front and rear portions 11, 12, the driving shaft extending through the rear portion and the front portion having an opening 60 to expose the working face of the wheel to which water is supplied by a spray pipe 43, the supply pipe 32 being connected to the rear portion 12 of the housing in which a passage 36 is formed which registers with a passage 39, Fig. 5, in the front portion so that when the latter is removed the supply line is parted at the jointing face 50 of the housing 10. A work-supporting table 67, pivotally attached to the housing, may be secured, after adjustment, by a clamp 75 to a fixed portion 64, Fig. 3, projecting from the front face. The top face of the table 67 is perforated and grooved and has a longitudinal central slot 76 in which a tongue below the underside of a pivotable slide block engages. The work-table may also be provided with gauge-marks to facilitate the setting of the slide. The inner face of the front portion of the wheel housing is provided with guide vanes which, in conjunction with the air displacement of the rotating wheel and sump-like shape of the lower portion of its housing, serve to collect and direct water and sludge to an outlet pipe 59. The wheel 30 is secured to the driving shaft 21, Fig. 5, by nutting it against a flange 24 on a sleeve 22 which has a split threaded portion 25 to engage the shaft tightly as a nut 27 is screwed towards the wheel; a backing plate 29 is held between the wheel and the flange 24 by the wheel securing nut 31. The motor 20 is resiliently mounted in a cradle 16 bolted to a platform 14 attached to a rearward extension of the rear portion of the housing 10.
