Abstract
891,048. Piston rings. LOCKWOOD & CARLISLE Ltd. Dec. 28, 1960 [Jan. 11, 1960], No. 872/60. Class 122 (1). A piston-ring 1 has a circumferential groove 5 filled with a self-setting composition 7 containing molybdenum disulphide. One or both sides 6 of the groove may be undercut to assist in keying the filling 7 which may be applied in a plastic condition and then allowed to set and may be a mixture of molybdenum disulphide of 60 microns maximum particle size and an amine modified epoxy resin. The molybdenum disulphide acts as to lubricate the cylinder wall 4.
