Abstract

889,861. Electromagnetic relays. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. April 3, 1959 [April 24, 1958], No. 11407/59. Class 38 (5). In a relay having a conducting armature arranged in the attracted position to engage a fixed contact, the fixed contact is carried on a member normally engaged by a contact spring which is moved out of engagement when the armature is attracted. As shown, a relay having its components secured in a base 1 as described in Specification 825,590 has a coil 7 surrounding part of a U-shaped flux member 4 and the armature 6 which is spring-biased to lie against the member 4 (Fig. 2). The magnetic circuit is completed by a core member 2 held close to but insulated from the flux member 4 within a passage 3 in the base 1 which has projections 15, 16 to set the gap between the ends of the members 2, 4. When the coil is energized the end of the armature 6 is repelled from the member 4 and attracted to the member 2 so that a contact cylinder 17 thereon engages divided contacts 11, 12 on a bracket 8 and breaks the contact between contacts 11, 12 and a contact spring 13 which is also located in a slot in the base 1 and has a terminal 14.
