Abstract

A polymer of ethylene may be cross-linked by heating to above 140 DEG C. in the presence of a bis peroxide of formula, <FORM:0889736/IV (a)/1> wherein X is an alkyl-substituted phenylene group, R is alkyl and R1 is H or alkyl. In examples, the bis peroxide used is bis(t-butylperoxymethyl)durene. The cross-linked products find application as film, filament, tubing and pipe. Specification 471,590 is referred to.
