Abstract

Compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0845586/IV(b)/1> wherein R1 i an alkyl groups are prepared by condensing a 1-alkyl-indoline-2-thione with acetone in the presence of a basic condensing agent such as piperidine. An example is given wherein R1 is methyl. According to the Provisional Specification, any ketone of the formula R2CH2COCH2R2 (where R2 is an alkyl group) may be used instead of acetone. p Specifications 845,587 and 845,588 are referred to.ALSO:Compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0845586/IV (c)/1> wherein R1 is an alkyl group are prepared by condensing a 1-alkylindoline-2-thione with acetone in the presence of a basic condensing agent such as piperidine. An example is given wherein R1 is methyl. According to the Provisional Specification, any ketone of the formula R2CH2 CO CH2R2 (where R2 is an alkyl group) may be used instead of acetone. Specifications 845,587 and 845,588 are referred to.
