Abstract

889,220. Optical stroboscopic apparatus. NATIONAL LABORATORIES & MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Nov. 19, 1959 [May 8, 1959], No. 39298/59. Class 97(1). Apparatus for observing an image of successive impressions equidistantly spaced on a printed web comprises means to guide the web along a path which is straight on either side of its mid-point and bent towards a rotating mirror drum rotated in synchronism with the web whereby, when the light rays reflected by the mirror drum are viewed, a substantially stationary image is seen. As shown in Fig. 1, rollers 12, 13 and 14 guide the web along a path which is concave towards the mirror drum 32 rotated in synchronism with the moving web, the light rays from this drum being reflected to an oscillating mirror 59 so that stationary image of each impression on the web can be viewed through an eyepiece 77. The mirror drum and the associated rocking mirror are preferably constructed and arranged as described in Specification 754,026.
