Abstract

888,722. Reinforced filter paper. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. June 8, 1960 [July 24, 1959], No. 20096/60. Class 96. Reinforced filter paper, e.g. 2 mils. thick, is formed by directing woven cloth 10, e.g. of glass or mineral fibre, unwound from a bolt 12, over the wire cloth 14 of a Fourdrinier machine to which is supplied a slurry of e.g. microfibre-glass from a flow-box 24, a suction box 28 extracting water and aiding in interlocking the fibres with the woven fabric reinforcement. The web is dried as by radiation at 32 and wound up at 36 or, alternatively, may be impregnated e.g. with poly (tri- or tetra-fluoroethylene), silicone or other resin at 40, dried and cured at 42 and wound up at 46. Two or more plies of cloth may be incorporated. The pore size may be 100Á. Specification 769,687 is referred to.
