Abstract

994,661. Wire-cloths of paper-making machines &c. KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION. June 22,1961 [June 23, 1960], No. 22662/61. Heading D2A. An endless Fourdrinier wire-cloth of a papermaking machine is woven with a twill weave and the long knuckles of the warp wires 32 extend above adjacent portions of the wire-cloth on the paper-engaging side, the warp wires being in the cross-machine direction, thereby providing drainage openings in the wire-cloth which extend across the machine direction so that in draining, some of the fibres are drawn away from the machine direction so that felting is improved, giving greater cross-directional strength to paper thus formed. With the warp wires in the crossdirection, two or more seams may be necessary in the wire-cloth. The twill weave may have the warp wires extending over two, three, or more weft wires. The Specification also describes a Fourdrinier machine and its flow-box outlet.
