Class 93 Roofing material comprises a metal or plastic sheet or a metal-plastic laminated sheet provided with a layer of spaced coarse light heat-insulating elastic grains, e.g. of cork, expanded cork, or foamed plastic, in which the grains project from the surface of the sheet. The grains may be attached by adhesive, e.g. bitumen, or, in the case of a plastic sheet, by attachment to the surface softened by solvent or heat. A plastic sheet may be attached to the upper surface of a metal sheet carrying the grains on its lower surface, or a sheet of roofing felt or a layer of mineral granules may be attached either to the upper surface of a grain-carrying sheet or to the upper surface of the plastic sheet overlying a metal sheet. As shown, the marginal portion a of a sheet 1 carrying spaced grains 2 and an upper sheet of roofing pasteboard 6 may be left free from grains to facilitate overlapping of adjacent sheets.
