888,344. Cleaning windows, windscreens, and other transparent panels; pads. VISRAM, Q. A. A. A. Sept. 13, 1960 [Sept. 17, 1959], No. 31789/59. Classes 19 and 138 (1). Apparatus for wiping a panel, e.g. a window, comprises a member 2, Fig. 1, incorporating a magnet 1 and provided with a wiping pad 8 for wiping one face of the panel, and a second member 13, Fig. 3, having a wiping pad 8 and incorporating a magnet 12 or magnetisable material, so that when the member 2 is moved by a handle 6 over one panel face the member 13 may be moved simultaneously by magnetic attraction over the opposite panel face. The wiping pad 8 comprises a cloth layer having a backing 7 of foam rubber or polyethylene. An eyelet 14 is provided on the member 13 for connecting it by a cord to a window frame to prevent it from falling to the ground. Another embodiment consists in a windscreen wiper comprising a blade 16, Fig. 4, having hooks 17 for attaching it to the wiper arm, a magnet. 5, and a rubber wiping pad 18. A similar blade, but having no hooks is arranged parallel to the blade 16 for movement by magnetic attraction over the inside surface of the windscreen. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 856,978.
