Abstract

1,231,251. Cleaning windows. T. R. WHEELER and K. A. W. KEMP. 14 Aug., 1969 [27 Aug., 1968; 29 Nov., 1968; 3 Dec., 1968], Nos. 40822/68, 56898/68 and 49884/68. Heading A4F. Apparatus for applying liquid to a surface, particularly to a window surface for cleaning it, comprises an endless belt 6 arranged parallel to the surface to be treated and carrying a member 11 to which is attached a beam 12 having on one edge an applicator device, e.g. a sponge 14, adapted to receive liquid from a receptacle 3 included in the apparatus. A rubber wiper blade 13 is also attached to the beam 12 in the illustrated apparatus for cleaning a window 1, and a counterweight 15 causes the window 1 to be engaged by the sponge 14 on the upward movement of the beam 12 and by the wiper blade 13 on the downward movement.
