Abstract

888,176. Transistor switching circuits. BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH Ltd. July 16, 1959 [July 18, 1958], No. 23160/58. Class 40(6). A transistor having its collector connected through a resistor to a source of supply B of sufficiently high voltage to damage the transistor when non-conducting and also connected to a safe clamping voltage S through a diode Dl has a resistor R3 connected between the clamping source and the opposite terminal of the supply so as to prevent the collector voltage from rising to an unsafe value if the clamping supply fails. The resistor may be of a non-linear type, e.g. a Zener diode (Fig. 2 not shown). A single resistor may serve for a number of circuits, for example, for the common clamping supply for a bi-stable circuit Tl, T2.
