887,090. Positive-driving bands. VISO S.A. Sept. 15, 1959 [Sept. 18, 1958], No. 31460/59. Class 80 (1). A positive driving rope or belt is made by injection moulding on to a belt of synthetic or natural organic material at periodic intervals enlargements of metal or synthetic organic material, and its ends 1 are joined by injectionmoulded metal balls, ellipsoids or other enlargements 2 that are oversize and are pressed to final size and, preferably, covered by a wearresistant thermoplastic synthetic material. Several ropes arranged parallel to one another may be joined by lateral enlargements in the form of bars of synthetic material or metal, the ends being joined by metal bars as above. Such enlargements engage transverse grooves in pulleys. The ropes or belts may be of leather, jute, hemp, ramie, monofils and stranded threads of polyamides and polyesters, such as polyethylene-terephthalate and polycaprolactam, or rope, and the metal enlargements may be of a bearing alloy, e.g. of tin, lead, antimony and copper, which may have a melting-point below that of the material used for the belt.
