Abstract

899,237. Laminates. CABLE BELT Ltd. Dec. 22, 1960 [May 2, 1960], No. 15372/60. Class 140. [Also in Group XXX] A conveyer belt, of the kind provided with edge portions providing upper and lower grooves 13, 14 to receive a driving cable, has an elastomeric core 15 in which are embedded two layers of resilient metal reinforcing members 18, 19 arranged above and below the central plane of the belt so that each upper member forms with a corresponding lower member a composite beam of which the upper member is in compression and the lower member in tension when the belt is loaded. Fabric 16 is wrapped around the core 15 and a covering layer of wear-resistant rubber covers the fabric. The reinforcing members may be rods of round section, or twisted square section bars, or apertured strips, or multistrand cables. Specifications 641,854 and 711,524 are referred to.
