886,827. X-ray apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 18, 1958 [July 22, 1957], No. 23136/58. Class 98(1). A device for indicating the path of the X-ray beam emitted by an X-ray tube comprises an envelope 11 having a window 13 for the exit of the X-rays and of the indicating light beam, a light source 20 arranged within the envelope at one side of the window, at least one light-reflecting surface 22 within the envelope arranged to reflect light from the source 20 in the direction of the X-ray beam, and contains an ionization chamber for measuring the X-ray beam mounted on the same support as the reflecting surface 22. Preferably the reflective surface is formed of aluminium or silver on the transparent wall 17 of the ionization chamber 14 remote from the X-ray tube and forms one of the electrodes of the chamber, the other electrode being a carbon layer on the wall 18 of the ionization chamber.
