Abstract

886,538. Joint-making packing. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 28, 1960 [Nov. 26, 1959], No. 40195/59. Class 122 (3). A joint between conduits 4, 5 carrying a liquid at high temperature and pressure is sealed by a deformable ring which is pressed into the joint by the pressure of the liquid and which comprises an inert outer thin metal deformable ring 2, e.g. of aluminium, and a separate inner inert plastic ring 1, e.g. of rubber or P.T.F.E., the ring 2 being of such crosssectional form that it is pressed outwardly by the action of the liquid pressing on the ring 1. The joint may be employed between the components of the melt-spinning pack described in Specification 780,743.
