Abstract
886,191. Metering devices for coal. LOWE, C. S. Feb. 17, 1960 [March 5, 1959], No. 7695/59. Class 78 (1). Coal falls down open shoot 10 and is metered by means of two valves 14 operated by cylinders 18 controlled by hand control 19, there being a reversing valve 25 included in the fluid circuit which is engaged by stud 27 of the piston of the lower cylinder as the latter closes so as to then cause the upper cylinder to close the upper valve. By adjustment of valves 22, 23, 24, 26, the time-lag between the valves may be varied to predetermine the charge of coal delivered with each cycle of the valves. Alternatively, the bottom valve may be closed, and the upper valve opened and then closed before the space is fully occupied. In this way the time interval between the opening and closing movements of the upper valve is set to determine the charge of coal to be delivered. Specification 631,843 is referred to.
