Abstract

885,286. Photo-electric sorting apparatus. GUNSON (SEEDS) Ltd., R. W. Dec. 11, 1958 [Oct. 20, 1958], No. 13417/61. Divided out of 885,283. Class 40(3). The description is substantially similar to that of Specification 885,283. The claims are directed to a sorting machine wherein the objects to be sorted are irradiated with polarized light. Such a machine is used where the objects show a high degree of specular reflection. The light from lamps 20 ' passes 'through polarizing filters 39 and illuminates the object 2 falling through the inspection zone. A further polarizing filter 40 is crossed with respect to filters 39 so that only diffused light from the objects can pass to a lens tube 8 and from thence to photo-electric means which control the sorting. Specifications 885,285 and 885,287 also are referred to.
