Abstract

1,203,625. Microscopes. E. REHM. Oct.26, 1967 [Oct.29, 1966], No.48747/67. Heading G2J. A microscope has an illumination system arranged so that an object may be selectively illuminated from below either along the optical axis or obliquely. The system either (1) comprises an illumination unit 33, a mirror 35 adjustable between 2 positions, and a fixed mirror 34, so that in one position of the adjustable mirror light is reflected off the fixed mirror along the optical axis 38, and in the other position light by-passes the fixed mirror and illuminates the object obliquely, or (2) comprises an illumination unit and a mirror, the illumination unit being capable of being set so that either light is reflected along the optical axis by the mirror, or light by-passes the mirror and illuminates the object directly. In system (2) the illumination unit may comprise a rotatable lamp, or two lamps operated one at a time.
