Abstract

885,280. Continuous furnaces. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 2, 1958 [June 5, 1957], No. 17537/58. Class 51 (2). A continuous furnace for firing ceramics comprises a tunnel 1 with a removable end section 5, electric radiant elements 2 in the side walls and. roof, and slots 8 in the upper side walls carrying sliding plates 9 from which the ware, e.g. rods, tubes or strips, is suspended. Near the removable section silicon carbide plates 13 shield the ware from direct radiation and the floor is stepped upwardly as at 14. A duct 15 is provided for the introduction of a gas, e.g. oxygen.
