Abstract

885,211. Cellular concrete structures. ADIE, G. M. Sept. 3, 1958 [Sept. 3, 1957], No. 27841/57. Classes 22 and 87(2). [Also in Groups X and XXI] A concrete structure is formed with three series of ducts extending in mutually perpendicular directions and lined with a core around which or into which the concrete is poured. The core may comprise a number of polyhedral cells A in two or more layers, a number of superposed p.v.c. bags 16, Fig. 4, which are welded at 12 and apertured at 10 or a number of tubes restricted locally. The core is filled with air or water before the concrete is cast therearound and this may be allowed to remain or be subsequently removed. During setting of the concrete heating or cooling water may be circulated through the core and may provide vibration. The pressure of the inflatant may be increased during or after setting. The structure may be reinforced by steel rods.
