Abstract
784,184. Cores and moulds for making concrete beams. LISTONE CONCRETE, Ltd. Sept. 9, 1955, No. 25866/55. Class 87(2). A hollow concrete beam is formed in a mould comprising a base 1 with removable or hinged side plates 8 and a core comprising tensioned wires 5 having an outer covering of paper or polythene or an inner, inflated polythene sleeve. The wires may be supported at intervals by rings 9 each of which may be cut at 9a and so pre-stressed that when moved by a wire attached to an eye 9b, it contracts to allow it to be withdrawn. The core may be made of various shapes by using various intermediate supports or by twisting the plates holding the ends of the wires. Two beams may be cast side by side. Several beams may be cast in each mould by providing partitions 6.
