Abstract

725,832. Walls; service conduits. CLARKE, L. Feb. 25, 1953, No. 5277/53. Classes 20 (2) and 20 (4). Passages for air circulation, or for accommodation of service pipes or wires are formed in a concrete wall, which is cast in situ, by positioning between the shuttering a number of hollow columns each having spherical enlargements connected by cylindrical parts. The columns each consist of a frame made of suitably bent and tied wires, the frame being wrapped with fibrous materials 10, e.g. cloth or paper, a layer 11 of plaster being applied thereto, e.g. by spraying, and a final layer 12 of waterproof material, e.g. tar, being applied, e.g. by dipping. In the case of an outside wall, metal foil 13 is applied to that half of the layer 12 which faces the weather side which may be formed to simulate clapboards 21. Some columns open at 9 at the top and bottom of the wall for the insertion of the service pipes &c.
