Class 132(1) A hinged boom apparatus comprises one or more horizontal vertically slidable beams 24, 25 mounted in a frame having one tubular upright 10 pivoted close to the gymnasium wall and a second tubular upright 11 which can be swung in an arc between a position of use, e.g. perpendicular to the wall, and a stowed position against the wall, pulleys 30, 32 being provided at the top of each upright to carry wires or the like connecting the beams to counterweights 31 sliding in the tubular uprights. As shown, upright 10 is mounted on a plate 14 close to wall 15 with its upper end pivoted at 16 to a bracket 17. Upright 11 is mounted on a wheeled base (see Specification 869,520) and may be secured in position by wire stays 20, 20 detachably secured to a loop 19 at its upper end and the other ends of the stays being secured at 21 to wall 15. Clip assemblies for securing the beams in position (see Specification 876,832) have gate members 26 with dowels which engage holes 13 drilled in the uprights. One end of a wire 29 is secured to an attachment on one clip assembly and the wire is led over a pulley 30 at the top of the upright to a counterweight in one or other of the uprights. Pulleys 30, 32 are provided at the top of each upright so that the two ends of each beam are connected to one counterweight.
