Abstract

1318239 Exercising apparatus J D POTGIETER 22 Dec 1970 60738/70 Heading A6M In an exercising apparatus having first and second levers 62, 54 pivotally mounted to opposite sides of a vertical post 10 on a base 16, an adjustable weight 64 at the free end of the first lever 62 and a horizontal bar 48 adjustably attached to the post; a cable 70 has one end connected to a variable point on the first lever, passes over a pulley 44 on the top of the post, is engageable with further pulleys 44 on the post and is attachable by a hook 72 at its other end to the second lever 54, to a number of separate bars, or to a head harness. As shown, the parts are attached to the post 10 (which is telescopic) by slidable clamps 38 to 38.5. The base has pivotal legs 18, struts 20 and a platform 24 having three panels 28, the central one of which is pivotally adjustable by a stay 30. A frame 34 having foot rests 36 is extendibly attached to the platform. The cable is attached to the first lever by a lockable winch 120 slidably mounted on the lever. The first lever may be locked in position and the weights 64 may be slidably mounted thereon and may have rubber tyres. A socket 76 is provided in a beam 37 on the post's top for receiving a horizontal bar. A variety of possible exercises are disclosed.
