Abstract
885,066. Toothed gearing. MAAG GEAR WHEEL & MACHINE CO. Ltd. Feb. 4, 1959 [Feb. 4, 1958], No. 4008/59. Class 80 (1). In epicyclic gearing comprising a driving sun 5, reaction annulus 7 and driven carrier 9 supporting say three planet wheels 13, the sun and annulus are resiliently supported by thinwalled cylindrical portions 18, 16 respectively to allow radial movement ensuring uniform distribution of load between the planet wheels. The driving shaft 4 is supported by a single bearing 2 adjacent the centre of gravity of the combination of shaft 4, gear 5 and coupling 21. In a non-epicyclic modification the carrier 9 is fixed and the annulus 7 is resiliently coupled to the output shaft by a thin-walled cylinder.
