884,240. Packaging. GRACE & CO., W. R. March 30, 1960 [March 31, 1959], No. 11225/60. Class 94(1). Articles 12, Fig. 2, in a bag 10 of heat shrinkable material are packaged by closing the neck of the bag, for example by twisting as at 14<SP>1</SP>, and then crimping a heated band 16 about the neck to form a substantially fused mass, by conduction of heat, to close the end against access of air. If the shrinkable material is in the form of a tube, the two ends are closed in like manner. The heat shrinkable material may be biaxially oriented irradiated polyethylene or similarly irradiated polypropylene. A pair of opposed jaws 18, Fig. 4, each having an arcuate end 20 and containing a heating element 22, are connected by linkage means whereby they close on the band 16 to crimp it in position and heat it.
