Abstract

884,216. Tractor-trailer hitches. ETABLISSEMENTS HUARD. May 23, 1958 [June 26, 1957], No. 16676/58. Class 103(5). A three point hitch device for connecting an agricultural machine to a tractor comprises a sleeve 6 in the bore of which the shaft of the machine or the draw bar of a tractor is inserted, links 1 and 2 provided with stub shafts 1a, 2a and pivoted to a shaft 4 passing through lugs 6a on the sleeve, a bell crank double link 3 also pivoted to the shaft 4 and releasably fastened by a pin 11 to lugs 6c on the sleeve, and a spring loaded locking pin 7 on each side which may pass through a hole in its respective link 1 or 2 and into a selected hole in the link 3. When connecting a machine mounting the hitch to a tratcor, the link 1 is first unlocked by releasing its pin 7, and the stub shaft 1a is engaged with the respective tractor connection. The stub-shaft 2a is then similarly engaged and the link 3 unlocked by removing the pin 11. The link 3 is then pivoted about the shaft 4 so that the upper point 5 may be engaged with the tractor, and the tractor is then manoeuvred until the pins 7 spring into their locking holes. The towed machine is then lifted so that the pin 11 may once more be engaged with the link 3 and the lugs 6c. The safety device described in Specification 884,215 may be used in conjunction with the present hitch.
