Abstract

884,137. Discharge tubes. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 3, 1960 [Oct. 9, 1959], No. 34352/59. Class 39(1) A cathode has projections 11, 12 extending from its ends and each having a width less than that of the associated end of the cathode, which engage in apertures in two insulating discs 1, 2 which are spaced apart, e.g. by rods 5, 6 or an anode. The cathode is secured relative to the first disc 1 and the projection 11 is formed with a shoulder 15 which abuts against one surface of disc 1. As shown, a cathode tab 21 is secured to rod 6 to support the cathode and provide an electrical connection thereto, or alternatively a bracket secured to disc 1 may be welded to the cathode. The projections 11, 12 are each formed from two parallel flat tongues which extend from the tubular cathode of rectangular cross-section. Transverse slits 23-26 are formed in the discs 1, 2 to increase the leakage path between the cathode 7 and grid 17.
