Abstract

In a process for the preparation of finely divided particles of an insoluble organic pigment or dye, the organic pigment or dye is subjected to wet grinding in aqueous suspension using a hydrophobic synthetic resin in granular form as the sole grinding means. Specified dispersants which may be added before or after grinding, are sodium lignin sulphonate, triethanolamine oleate, dicresol formaldehyde-2-naphthosulphonate a copolymer of ethylene oxide and nonyl phenol and the condensation product of formaldehyde and sodium-beta naphthalene sulphonate.ALSO:In a process for the preparation of finely divided particles of an insoluble organic pigment or dye, the organic pigment or dye is subjected to wet grinding in aqueous suspension using a hydrophobic synthetic resin in granular form as the sole grinding means. Dyes specified are 16,17-dimethoxy-dibenzanthrone, 3,31-dichloro- and 3-chloro-1,21-11-2-dianthraquinone-dihydroazines, 1 : 2-5 : 6-diphenyl-dithiazene-anthraquinone, nitro-violanthrone, 1,41-dibenzoyl-diamino-4,11- and 1,51-dibenzoyl diamino-5.11-dianthrimides, carbazolated benzanthrone, copper phthalocyanine and 1-amino-2-methyl anthraquinone. Dispersants, such as sodium lignin sulphonate, triethanolamine oleate, dicresol formaldehydesodium-2-naphthosulphonate, a copolymer of nonyl-phenol and ethylene oxide and the condensation product of formaldehyde and sodium beta-naphthalene-sulphonate may be added before or after grinding. Antifermentants and fungicides, such as sodium phenyl- and -pentachloro-phenates, may be added to the ground dyes.
