Abstract
Pigments comprise the non-resinous, white, amorphous, and insoluble condensate of molecular weight not exceeding 250 derived by condensation of urea, thiourea, guanidine, biuret, dicyandiamide, and melamine with formaldehyde in acid solution and a dyestuff or other colouring matter present to the extent of .01 per cent to 20 per cent on the weight of the condensation product. The condensation may be carried out in presence of the dyestuff or completed previously. The dyestuff may be fluorescent. In examples, urea and formaldehyde are condensed in presence of hydrochloric acid, and each of the following dyes:-(1) Rhodamine B and G, (2) Brilliant Sulphoflavine FF, (3) Patent Blue A, (4) chlorinated copper phthalocyanine, (5) a mixture of copper phthalocyanine and 2.21-dihydroxy-napththaldazine, (6) Acid Orange G.
