883,132. Roller bearing cages. SCHAEFFLER, W., and SCHAEFFLER, G., [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER OHG.]. Oct. 22, 1958 [Oct. 22, 1957], No. 33814/58. Class 12 (1). A needle bearing cage comprises a metal cage body provided on all its surfaces with a uniform elastic covering of synthetic plastic material, such as polyamide, the needles being retained in windows of the cage exclusively by the elastic covering. A sheet-metal cage shown in Figs. 1 and 2 has its ends 2 and circumferentially spaced bars 1 coated with plastic material. In a modification, rollers are retained in windows 16 of a cage by a coating 21 of plastic material over metal projections 19, 20, Fig. 4. In a further modification, no metal projections are provided, and the retaining means consists of projections formed only of plastic material.
