883,014. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems; valves. STABILIMENTI ELETTROMECCANNICI RIUNITI ANSALDO-SAN GIORGIO S.p.A. Feb. 18, 1958 [March 30, 19571, No. 5256/58. Classes 69 (2) and 135. An hydraulic system comprises an actuator piston displaceable against spring-loading by hydraulic pressure controlled by a pressure regulating valve having a spool subject in one direction to the said pressure and in the opposite direction to an adjustable spring loading. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a valve spool 12 controls the connection of a line 2 with an inlet line 1 and an exhaust line 3. Spool 12 is loaded by a spring 17 adjustable by screw 16 and is subject to the pressure in line 2 acting in a chamber 5. Line 2 leads to a single acting piston 21. As shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 6, an actuator 18 has a piston 21 urged to a central position by a spring 23 disposed inside the hollow piston which slides over a stationary rod 30. Spring 23 co-operates with abutments on the rod 30, and the rod has a bore 33 leading to exhaust. Lines 2<SP>1</SP>, 211 lead to a control valve V which has a spool 12 loaded by a spring 17 and subject to the pressure in a chamber 5. Chamber 5 is connected, through a reversing valve 26, selectively to line 2<SP>1</SP> or 2<SP>11</SP>, the other line being connected to exhaust via this valve. Valve 26 has a central position in which both lines 2<SP>1</SP>, 211 are connected to exhaust. Rotating the valve to connect one of the lines to pressure also, through a pin and groove and slot connection adjusts the height of a spindle 27 to increase the spring-loading on spool 12. Liquid is admitted through line 2<SP>1</SP> or 211 to one side of piston 21, liquid from the other side passing to exhaust through a passage 20<SP>1</SP> or 20<SP>11</SP>, a port 32 in the piston, and bore 33. Spring 23 is compressed until the pressure rises sufficiently to allow spool 12 to be restored to its neutral position.
