Abstract
882,962. Washing and dry-cleaning machines. PRUMM, A. Oct. 23, 1959 [July 4, 1959], No. 35981/59. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XIII] Textiles are washed or dry-cleaned in a group of machines W and dried in a second group T, each group comprising at least two machines moved intermittently along an endless path. An endless conveyer 72 transports the textiles from one group to the other. As shown, a double drum-type washing machine is unloaded and loaded at A, and moved to B where, e.g. 100 litres per minute of treatment agent are added while 25 litres flow out through an opening 66 in a standpipe 68 (Fig. 5). After, e.g. 5 minutes the machine is moved to C and liquid is added at the rate of 25 litres per minute to maintain the level in the machine. An overflow opening 65 prevents liquid rising above the level shown. The standpipe 68 is surrounded by a removable sieve 64. The machines may be surrounded by an air-tight enclosure from which fumes are extracted by a fan 82. The four machines of each group are mounted for rotation about a vertical cylinder 11 by means of a motor 13. Individual motors 44 are provided for rotating the inner drum 52 of each machine. Liquid is supplied to the machines at the appropriate stations through a rotary head 19 and pipes 50. In the second group, centrifuging is carried out at stations F and G, and hot air drying at station H. In an alternative arrangement (not shown), the machines may be mounted on chains on an oval track.
