Abstract

1428107 Washing machines HOOVER Ltd 14 May 1973 [15 May 1972] 22620/72 Heading D1A [Also in Division F4] Laundry is dried in a machine comprising a cabinet 10, in which articles are mounted on removable rails 12, by directing air from a fan 17 through the rails and downwardly out of an aperture or apertures in each rail. As shown in Fig. 1 the rails 12 are of inverted U-section and removably supported by ledges 28 on the cabinet sides adjacent aligned apertures 26 for the air. The fan 17 also directs air past heaters 14 and downwards from the top of the cabinet. Preferably the cabinet includes vertical-axis rotary spray assemblies at the top and bottom of the cabinet for washing and rinsing laundry and means for operating the assemblies alternately to reduce the electrical loading of the machine and permit the provision of two heaters 14. Alternatively only one heater may be provided (Fig. 5. not shown).
