Class 34(2) A tumbler clothes drier comprises a cabinet in which a bulkhead vertically divides the interior into a front compartment having a rotatable drum and a rear compartment having an air heater and fan, the heater being removably mounted on the bulkhead and embracing an opening in the bulkhead leading into the front compartment, a lint trap dividing the front compartment into upper and lower portions, and the fan being enclosed in a housing in the bottom of the cabinet, the housing having an opening connecting the lower portion of the front compartment with an exhaust duct. The drier has a cabinet vertically divided by a bulkhead 44 into a front compartment 42 having a rotatable perforated drum 52 and a rear compartment 43 having a fan 138 and an electrically-operated heater 92 which is removably mounted on an opening in the bulkhead coaxial with a rear opening of the drum to circulate the heated air therethrough. A perforated and removable lint tray 148 is horizontally mounted beneath the drum to allow moist air from the perforations 58 of the drum, which extend for a relatively short distance rearwardly from the front opening of the drum, to circulate into the lower portion 147 of the front compartment from which they are exhausted through an opening 153 in the bulkhead to the interior of the housing 139 of the fan and an enclosed exhaust compartment 157 in the rear compartment of the cabinet. The drum rotates on a horizontal axis on bearings comprising annular flanges which fit into rings 81, 83 on the bulkhead and front of the cabinet respectively and has uniformly-spaced radial vanes 57 which extend longitudinally of the drum and adjacent the circumferential wall thereof and which are secured to opposite end walls of the drum by bolts which pass through tubes 67 formed by rolling the inner edges of the vanes.
