Abstract
882,817. Gas-blast switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 3, 1958 [Dec. 3, 1956], No. 36925/56. Class 38 (5). Contact members particularly for isolators used with gas - blast circuitbreakers are operated by pull-rods which are in tension during both opening and closing operations. As applied to the breaker described in Specification 882,816, rotatable shafts A1 A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 which are coupled to contact arms (not shown) are interconnected by pull-rods 28 . . . 32 having a pin and clevis connections at each end, with cranks 10, 17, 24 . . . 27 on the shafts. To open the isolators the piston of an air cylinder 23 drives a lever 21 anticlockwise about its pivot 22; a dashpot 34 controlling the speed of opening. To close the isolators the piston of a cylinder 16 drives the lever 14 clockwise about its pivot 15; a dashpot 35 controlling the speed of closing. With the bars 28. . . 32 in tension there is no backlash to be taken up on operation. Specification 882,818 also is referred to.
