A combined rectoscope and fluid withdrawing device comprises a suction tube f with an eggshaped end g which has apertures e and is at least partially transparent, a container k connected with the tube for receiving fluid withdrawn through the apertures and a recloscope having an objective and illuminating means in the egg-shaped end of the tube. In use, the egg-shaped end is inserted in the rectum and a suction pump is connected to a portion h at the other end of the tube f. The rectoscope includes a lamp and a mirror m and an eyepiece n is housed in the tube. The tube has an aperture i through which fluid withdrawn from the rectum enters the container k.
