Abstract

882,050. Valve gear; lubricating; cooling. MOTORENFABRIK HATZ G.m.b.H. Dec. 1, 1959 [March 9, 1959], No. 40769/59. Classes 7(2) and 7(6). A diesel engine poppet valve spring 6, Fig. 1, engages a free marginal edge 8b of a spring plate 8, which is supported, directly or indirectly at an inner annular surface 8a from a supporting surface of a fixed bearing in a valve housing and encloses a hollow cavity 9 which communicates with cooling medium in chamber 2c by at least one channel 2b<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2. The spring plate 8 may be of a deep drawing sheet metal and channels 2b<SP>1</SP> may be flats formed during casting. A flanged guide bush 4 may be fitted. The surfaces of the spring plate 8 are cooled by the mixture of cooling air and lubricant present in the chamber 2c.
