Abstract

881,963. Crates. BIRKBYS Ltd. Jan. 20, 1960 [Jan. 30, 1959], No. 3352/59. Class 18. A carrying crate for bottles comprises a plurality of multi-cell units of moulded plastics material A, B, C, each unit presenting a keyway 14 at its point of contact with adjacent units in to which a key 13 is inserted to secure the units together. The units are bound together by bands 10, which are corrugated to conform with the shape of the units and which are retained between ribs 24, 25 and 26, 27, the upper band 10 being provided with loops 11 for attaching a carrying handle 12. Each cell has a hole formed through its base and has a protective rib 17 on its underside to facilitate stacking. The corner cells A, B are of uniform height but the inner cell units C, Fig. 6, may be stepped.
