Abstract

881,949. Electric selective signalling systems. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 15, 1958 [June 3, 1957], No. 17596/57. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXVII] A switching mechanism for use in electrical remote control systems comprises, on a common base plate, a tuned moving-coil relay controlling heating of a thermally responsive switch which closes contacts when heated for a short period and opens them when heated for a longer period (see Group XXXVII). Switching devices 27, 33, 34 are interposed between loads 32, 35, 36 and supply lines 30, 31. When control station 39 injects a signal of predetermined frequency into the supply lines 30, 31 current flows in coils 3 and 7 (tuned by condenser 28) and contacts 16 are closed, thereby heating a bimetallic strip 17 to cause closure of main contacts 23, 24. If the signal is prolonged, or on a subsequent signal of sufficient duration, the contacts 23, 24 are re-opened.
