Abstract

1,025,937. Switching systems; switches held set and freed mechanically. E. K. COLE Ltd. Nov. 2, 1964 [Oct. 8, 1963], No. 39517/63. Headings H2B and H2H. A switching system for controlling the energization of a load such as an electric blanket 1 comprises a three-position switch in one position of which the load is fully energized from an A.C. supply 2, 3; in the second position of which the load is only partially energized by way of a half-wave rectifier 5 and in the third position of which the load is de-energized. Lamps 4, 6 are provided to indicate the degree of energization. The switch may be of the sliding contact type or the push-button type having three buttons 10, 11, 12. Contact members 16, 17 and 18, 19 are movable with the buttons 10 and 12 respectively, the contacts 16, 17 co-operating with contacts 20, 21 and 22, 23, 24 carried on an insulating member 30 whilst contacts 18, 19 co-operate with contacts 25 ... 29. The buttons are provided with members 43, 44 to retain the buttons in the operated position, such an operated button being released upon subsequent operation of a further button.
