Abstract

881,933. Electron beam deflecting apparatus. KOLSTER-BRANDES Ltd. Aug. 26, 1960 [Aug. 28, 1959], No. 29442/59. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XL(c)] A magnetic deflection arrangement for a cathode-ray tube in a television receiver includes a pair of line deflection windings (of which only one, 6, is shown), a pair of frame deflection windings (of which only one, 3, is shown) and a neutralising coil 4, the coil being connected in series with one of the pairs of windings and coupled inductively with the other pair in such a manner that the effect of induction coupling between the pairs of windings is reduced. In the arrangement described the neutralising coil is connected in series with the line deflection coils. The frame deflection coils are toroidally wound on a magnetic core 2. The line deflection coils are of the saddle type and spaced from the frame coils by insulating separators 7, 8. The neutralising coil is mounted on a spindle 10 to permit rotational adjustment (about the spindle axis) to the position which achieves minimum effective coupling between pairs of coils.
