Abstract
859,040. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 28, 1959 [Oct. 31, 1958], No. 36571/59. Class 39(1). A deflector coil system for television display tubes comprises saddle shaped line deflection coils 1, toroidal frame deflection coils 5, wound on a core 3 and a supporting hood 7 which is open at both ends and coaxially encloses the coil, the hood 7 being provided with projections 27 extending radially inwards and lying in matching recesses 29 formed in the core 3, and to which magnetic connecting means such as 9 are secured, the coils being secured together within the hood by an annular mass 23 of sealing compound into which one end of the hood is embedded. The cylindrical end 17 of the hood may carry curved magnetic poles pieces for pin-cushion distortion correction.
