Abstract
881,048. Foaming slag. CHOCHOLA, J. Sept. 10, 1959 [Sept 11, 1958], No. 30947/59. Classes 22 and 87(2). [Also in Group XXX] Slag is foamed in a chamber 8 and is then conveyed in a semi-plastic state by a stream of air through a tube 5 to a heap 9 where it ripens. The slag is delivered to a trough from which it passes to the chamber 8 where it is foamed by water, air or other gas, supplied through nozzles under pressure. The direction of the nozzles is such that the foamed slag is driven into a collecting chamber 3, the walls of which are moistened by water supplied by an annular tube 23, Fig. 3. The lower part 20 of the chamber is supplied with air by a blower 1. Liquid under pressure is supplied to a series of nozzles 18 arranged in an arc between the upper and lower parts of the chamber. Louvred openings 6 allow surplus water to escape.
