A tool attachment for a power-operated hand tool comprises a cylindrical body part of a resiliently yieldable material, an abrasive strip disposed about the periphery of the body part and secured thereto, a pair of parallel spaced-apart disc members disposed one at each end face of the body part, the disc members being of a lesser diameter than the body part, lying on the flat surfaces thereof respectively and being adapted to apply, when in a predetermined spaced disposition, an axially directed compressive force on the resiliently yieldable material, a rod member disposed axially of the body part and adapted to receive and positively to maintain the disc members in the opened disposition and a central shank adapted to facilitate mounting of the attachment in a tool chuck. A cylindrical body 1 of resilient foamed plastic is clamped between circular metal plates 2, 3 connected by a screw 4; the plates being held in desired spaced relation by nuts 5, 5. A shank extension 6 is screwed on the projecting end of the screw 4. A sleeve 7 of sandpaper is secured to the periphery of the body 1 by one or two spots of adhesive. The abrasive material may be removed, and the body used as a washing head. The first Provisional Specification describes a washing attachment comprising a base disc having a central shank for sperable connection to the chuck of a power-tool, the base disc incorporating on its outer face spring clips by means of which a washing head may be detachably connected to the base disc so as to rotate fixedly with it, the washing head comprising a rigid disc provided with a pad of soft resilient and absorbent substance. The rigid disc may be diametrically hinged beneath the pad so that, after removal of the head from the spring clips, the pad may be squeezed. An endless band of sandpaper or emery paper may be fixed frictionally round the perimeter of the pad to provide a smoothing wheel.
