Abstract

880,643. Stone saws. NORTON CO. July 23, 1959 [Aug. 4, 1958], No. 25284/59. Class 124. A stone saw comprises a wheel having a thin centre disc portion with a rim formed of segments having a hard peripheral portion containing diamond particles and a part on each segment fixed to the disc along a junction line all points thereof being situated at different distances from the centre of the disc. As shown, a thin disc 10 is provided with a plurality of radial slots 12 to form tooth portions 13 with straight edges 14, the edges being at an angle and having segments 15 with diamond particles embedded in a tungsten carbide-cobalt matrix attached thereto by brazing or welding. The edge 14 is such that a radius intersecting the edge at the mid point makes an angle other than a right angle with the edge and it is preferred that the angle a on the leading side of the radius and nearer to the centre of the disc is less than 90 degrees.
